January 1, 2018 : Happy New Year!
I am still offering free bodywork and/or yoga lessons in my home until I find a suitable office. A few people have been confused by this, so here's the deal:
I was previously running a home business out of my ground-floor apartment, but I have moved to a condo where the HOA rules dictate that I can't operate a home business. I really care about the wellbeing of everyone who was coming to see me (and anyone else who would like to), and I want to continue serving during this transition. You are welcome to see me as a guest in my home. I will offer my services exactly as I did before, but it's illegal for me to accept any form of payment.
If you feel like an exchange needs to happen, you have two options: you can give me something other than money (a few people have given me edible goodies, or offered services of their own; all is appreciated!), or you can schedule an appointment with me Wednesday thru Saturday at Studio X where I'm an employee. (Please call me to set up an appointment there. This is a fitness studio where I give bodywork, and it's pretty loud most of the time. If you need quiet during your session, you should see me at home.)
January 10, 2018 : On Meditative Healing
I have suggested meditation to many people and described a few ways to begin, but I always worry that I'm not articulating well the sorts of sensations and experiences that we are aiming for when we meditate. I firmly believe that meditation is, at its heart, a natural subconscious process that all human beings can yield to in order to heal themselves, if only they allow the process to begin. Many people I talk with about meditation want to know, "HOW though?! HOW do I meditate?" The video below is a podcast in which people discuss meditation in conversation, rather than as an instructional video, and I feel that they explain exactly what I often struggle to, in a way that is down-to-earth and easily understandable without all the guru/supernatural/hippie/over-the-top air of superior beinghood; normal people who value meditation. (Bonus topics include: shoulder therapies, sensory deprivation tanks, Chappelle's Show, and psychoactive substances)

About Bodywork & Massage

Massage therapy is a healthcare and wellness profession. The practice of massage therapy involves a client/patient-centered session, intended to support therapeutic goals, with the therapist being free of personal agenda. Massage therapy also meets the well-researched need for touch and human connection. Overall, bodywork is one of many tools which we can use to help our bodies stay healthy and function at an optimal level.

I graduated in December of 2013 from East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, OR.
In the Summer of 2016, I became a Certified Yoga Teacher through CorePower Yoga.
In the Spring of 2018, I received a certificate for Trauma-Informed Yoga Training through Street Yoga.
